Responsibilities

  • Educate and train associates on health and safety related issues
  • Visit project sites and prepare reports, at least monthly, to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements
  • Motivate associates to maintain high levels of participation through awards program and other recognition
  • Work closely with PM’s, Superintendents, and sub-contractors to ensure implementation of safety policies
  • Research and comprehend applicable environmental laws and regulations.
  • Translate applicable environmental laws and regulatory requirements and apply them in practical business applications through the development and implementation of operating procedures (i.e., compliance program).
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the applicable federal, state and local regulations applicable to industrial hygiene, asbestos, and lead-based paint activities.
  • Provide guidance to project management regarding environmental issues. Works in direct support to ensure regulatory compliance. Provides expertise based on being thoroughly familiar with site specific environmental permits and plans.
  • Conduct routine jobsite inspections for safety, environmental, and industrial hygiene hazards.  Documenting findings as required and taking action where necessary to close gaps.
  • Deliver safety and environmental training to associates as required by regulations and company procedures and programs.
  • Provide on-site technical project management and air sampling services during environmental hazard abatement and industrial hygiene projects.
  • Assist in the review, revision and development of Department policies as assigned or directed.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned that are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of Construction related safety and health experience
  • BS in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
  • ASP/CSP considered a plus, but not required.  
  • Must be willing to travel approximately 50-75% of time (Monday - Friday) to project sites.
